Panasonic Lumix G9ii
My primary professional body, great for portraiture, pets, landscapes, larger events, and honestly just about anything else I want to throw at it. The 25MP micro four thirds sensor more than suits my needs, and the body offers plenty control over every aspect of shooting I touch.
Panasonic Lumix GX9
My smaller “B” camera body, great for events, street photography, and photo-walks, but certainly no slouch: it can handle almost all of the same situations as the G9ii, but in a much smaller form factor. The 20MP sensor is plenty capable, and the micro four thirds mount means I can share my lenses between the two bodies.
Primes
- Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f/1.7 ASPH. (II) — a comfortable 40mm full-frame equivalent lens that very nearly counts as a pancake lens, this little bundle of joy is perfect for everyday shooting. Plenty sharp even wide open, though the autofocus is slower and noisier in its golden years.
- Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH. — a fast and sharp “nifty fifty” equivalent that is also great for everyday shooting, though it is twice as long as the 20mm (a bit over three times with the lens hood). Also good for portraiture and pet photography.
- Panasonic Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 ASPH. Mega O.I.S. — a nice 90mm equivalent portrait lens that can double as a macro lens for product photography.
Zooms
- Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO — a fast and sharp zoom with a 24–80mm full frame equivalent range. Great for just about everything, though with how heavy it is, it is only used on the G9ii for balance reasons, meaning it only gets used in certain situations.
